Pour ce faire, il commande aux chantiers allemands Schiffbau Gesselschaft Unterweser un nouveau ferry, destin\u00e9 \u00e0 op\u00e9rer une nouvelle ligne reliant Yarmouth (Canada) \u00e0 Portland (\u00c9tats-Unis). Le ferry est lanc\u00e9 le 09 f\u00e9vrier 1970 et livr\u00e9 \u00e0 son propri\u00e9taire le 10 juin 1970. D\u00e8s le lendemain, le ferry, baptis\u00e9 <strong>Prince of Fundy<\/strong>, entame une travers\u00e9e de l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an Atlantique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prince of Fundy<\/strong> d\u00e9bute son service commercial le 19 juin 1970. Cependant, <strong>Lion Ferry<\/strong> ne parvient pas \u00e0 rentabiliser cette activit\u00e9 et ferme la ligne en janvier 1976. Le ferry est alors ramen\u00e9 en Europe pour \u00eatre utilis\u00e9 comme h\u00e9bergement \u00e0 quai \u00e0 Stavanger (Norv\u00e8ge). En novembre 1976, <strong>Lion Ferry<\/strong> engage <strong>Prince of Fungy<\/strong> sur la ligne reliant Varberg (Su\u00e8de) \u00e0 Gren\u00e5 (Danemark).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prince of Brittany, nouveau titulaire de la ligne Saint-Malo &#8211; Portsmouth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 l&rsquo;automne 1977, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/brittany-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1973\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1973\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong> annonce l&rsquo;ouverture de nouvelles liaisons vers l&rsquo;Irlande depuis Roscoff et l&rsquo;Espagne depuis Plymouth. Pour ces lignes, l&rsquo;armement breton choisit son navire amiral, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/24\/m-v-armorique-1-1976-1992-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Armorique (1) (1976-1992) \u2013 Brittany Ferries\">Armorique (1)<\/a><\/strong>. Jusqu&rsquo;alors, <strong>Armorique (1)<\/strong> \u00e9tait op\u00e9r\u00e9 sur la ligne Saint-Malo &#8211; Portsmouth. <strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong> se met donc en recherche d&rsquo;un nouveau navire pour l&rsquo;y remplacer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En avril 1978, <strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong> affr\u00e8te donc l&rsquo;ex-<strong>Prince of Fungy<\/strong>, qui est renomm\u00e9 <strong>Prince of Brittany<\/strong> pour ce service. Il y est op\u00e9r\u00e9 en tandem avec <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/02\/m-v-penn-ar-bed-1974-1984-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Penn-Ar-Bed (1974-1984) | Brittany Ferries\">Penn-Ar-Bed<\/a><\/strong>. La premi\u00e8re saison de <strong>Prince of Brittany<\/strong> donne toute satisfaction \u00e0 <strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong>. Cependant, \u00e0 la mi-juin 1979, <strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong> est confront\u00e9 aux pannes successives des <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/19\/m-v-cornouailles-1977-1989-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Cornouailles (1977-1989) \u2013 Brittany Ferries\">Cornouailles<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Penn-Ar-Bed<\/strong> et<strong> Prince of Brittany<\/strong>. La compagnie est contrainte d&rsquo;affr\u00e9ter <strong>Munster<\/strong> \u00e0 <strong>B&amp;I Lines<\/strong> pour remplacer ses ferries, mais ce dernier propose un niveau de confort tr\u00e8s \u00e9loign\u00e9 des normes de la compagnie. <strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong> parvient par la suite \u00e0 affr\u00e9ter <strong>Regina<\/strong> jusqu&rsquo;au retour de <strong>Prince of Brittany<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">L&rsquo;acquisition de Prince of Brittany<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Au terme de deux ans d&rsquo;affr\u00e8tement, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/brittany-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1973\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1973\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong> acquiert <strong>Prince of Brittany<\/strong> au d\u00e9but de l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e 1980. Au m\u00eame moment, la compagnie affr\u00e8te <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/25\/m-v-goelo-1980-1982-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Go\u00eblo (1980 \u2013 1982) | Brittany Ferries\">Go\u00eblo<\/a><\/strong> pour remplacer Penn-Ar-Bed sur la ligne Saint-Malo &#8211; Portsmouth. De plus, un ferry roulier, <strong>Faraday<\/strong>, est \u00e9galement affr\u00e9t\u00e9 pour pallier la faible capacit\u00e9 des garages des deux ferries affect\u00e9s ) cette ligne..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cependant, l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1980 est fortement perturb\u00e9 \u00e0 compter du 13 ao\u00fbt, lorsque les dockers des ports fran\u00e7ais entament un mouvement de gr\u00e8ve. Pour rapatrier les passagers laiss\u00e9s \u00e0 leur sort, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/24\/m-v-armorique-1-1976-1992-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Armorique (1) (1976-1992) \u2013 Brittany Ferries\">Armorique (1)<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Prince of Brittany<\/strong> et <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/25\/m-v-goelo-1980-1982-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Go\u00eblo (1980 \u2013 1982) | Brittany Ferries\">Go\u00eblo<\/a><\/strong> quittent Plymouth le 20 ao\u00fbt pour Santander, avec un espacement de 90 minutes entre chacun des navires. En janvier 1981, <strong>Prince of Brittany<\/strong> est affr\u00e9t\u00e9 par <strong>Irish Continental Lines<\/strong> pour service au d\u00e9part de Rosslare vers Cherbourg et Le Havre. Ce statut permet en effet d&rsquo;obtenir des conditions de financement plus avantageuses. <strong>Reine Mathilde<\/strong> d\u00e9bute son service sur la ligne Caen (Ouistreham) &#8211; Portsmouth le 17 mars 1988.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le 10 avril 1988, <strong>Reine Mathilde<\/strong> est victime d&rsquo;un incendie dans sa salle de machine. Le navire doit \u00eatre remorqu\u00e9 au Havre pour \u00eatre r\u00e9par\u00e9. Le ferry y est renomm\u00e9 <strong>Beauport<\/strong> en vue de rejoindre la ligne Poole &#8211; \u00celes Anglo-normandes op\u00e9r\u00e9e par <strong>British Channel Islands Ferries<\/strong> (BCIF). Il est par la suite mis \u00e0 disposition sur le march\u00e9 de l&rsquo;affr\u00e8tement pour service dans la mer M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Beauport en M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Durant l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1994, <strong>Beauport<\/strong> est affr\u00e9t\u00e9 par <strong>Stern Maritime Line<\/strong> pour service entre Bari (Italie) et \u00c7e\u015fme (Turquie). En septembre 1994, le ferry est affr\u00e9t\u00e9 par <strong>Hellenic Inter Ferries<\/strong> et est op\u00e9r\u00e9 entre Brindisi (Italie), Igoumen\u00edtsa (Gr\u00e8ce) et Patras (Gr\u00e8ce). Ce service dure jusqu&rsquo;en avril, lorsque son affr\u00e9teur fait faillite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 compter de l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1995, <strong>Beauport<\/strong> est affr\u00e9t\u00e9 par la <strong>Compagnie Marocaine de Navigation<\/strong> (<strong>COMANAV<\/strong>) et est op\u00e9r\u00e9 sur la ligne saisonni\u00e8re S\u00e8te (France) &#8211; Nador (Maroc). Durant l&rsquo;hiver, le navire est d\u00e9sarm\u00e9 \u00e0 La Spezzia (hiver 1995) puis \u00e0 Marseille. Ces affr\u00e8tements par <strong>COMANAV<\/strong> se renouvellent jusqu&rsquo;en septembre 1999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En avril 1996, <strong>Beauport<\/strong> est affr\u00e9t\u00e9 par l&rsquo;arm\u00e9e marocaine pour transporter des troupes vers la Yougoslavie. En mai 1996, la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 <strong>Private<\/strong> affr\u00e8te l&rsquo;affr\u00e8tement du navire pour des croisi\u00e8res libertines entre Copenhague et la mer M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e. Cependant, les salaires du personnel ne furent jamais pay\u00e9s, provoquant un scandale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sancak Lines<\/strong> affr\u00e8te <strong>Beauport<\/strong> en mai 2000 pour op\u00e9rer une ligne reliant Brindisi \u00e0 \u00c7e\u015fme jusqu&rsquo;en septembre. En d\u00e9cembre 2000, <strong>Beauport<\/strong> est affr\u00e9t\u00e9 par le <strong>gouvernement de Trinit\u00e9-et-Tobago<\/strong>. <strong>Beauport<\/strong> retrouve ainsi le continent am\u00e9ricain, o\u00f9 il op\u00e8re la ligne Port d&rsquo;Espagne &#8211; Scarborough. Il y d\u00e9bute son service le 10 d\u00e9cembre 2000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 l&rsquo;issue de son affr\u00e8tement, le 1er juillet 2005, <strong>Beauport<\/strong> est mis en vente.
