Il est acquis au d\u00e9but de l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e 1964 par deux entrepreneurs guernesiais, Peter Dorey et Jack Norman pour cr\u00e9er une nouvelle compagnie, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/condor-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1964\/\" title=\"Condor Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1964\">Condor Ltd<\/a><\/strong>. Avec cette nouvelle compagnie, Peter Dorey et Jack Norman entendent op\u00e9rer des services \u00e0 grande vitesse entre Saint-Malo et les \u00eeles Anglo-normandes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La fondation de cette nouvelle compagnie trouve ses origines dans le retrait de <strong>British Railways<\/strong> de son service Saint-Malo &#8211; \u00celes Anglo-normandes en janvier 1963. Pour concurrencer les compagnies <strong>Vedettes Blanches<\/strong> et <strong>Jersey Lines<\/strong>, Peter Dorey et Jack Norman choisissent la technologie hydropt\u00e8re. Ces vedettes sont en effet mont\u00e9es sur des foils qui, \u00e0 partir d&rsquo;une certaine vitesse, permettent au navire de voler au-dessus de l&rsquo;eau et d&rsquo;atteindre une vitesse de pr\u00e8s de 33 n\u0153uds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Acquis pour 200,000\u00a3, <strong>Condor 1<\/strong> est r\u00e9ceptionn\u00e9 \u00e0 Guernesey le 12 avril 1964. Il est baptis\u00e9 par Kathleen Dorey, \u00e9pouse de l&rsquo;un des deux fondateurs de la compagnie. Bas\u00e9 \u00e0 Jersey, <strong>Condor 1<\/strong> op\u00e8re une premi\u00e8re travers\u00e9e pour des personnalit\u00e9s le 18 avril 1964, puis r\u00e9alise sa premi\u00e8re travers\u00e9e commerciale le 1er mai 1964. Ses travers\u00e9es l&#8217;emm\u00e8nent \u00e0 Saint-Malo, Granville et Cherbourg au d\u00e9part des \u00eeles Anglo-normandes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le 3 septembre 1964, <strong>Condor 1<\/strong> r\u00e9alise une travers\u00e9e entre les \u00celes Anglo-normandes et Torquay, en Angleterre. Cependant, l&rsquo;exp\u00e9rience ne fut pas reconduite et deux travers\u00e9es suppl\u00e9mentaires furent annul\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Durant l&rsquo;hiver 1965-1966, de nombreuses modifications sont op\u00e9r\u00e9es \u00e0 bord de <strong>Condor 1<\/strong> pour le fiabiliser. Cependant, ces derni\u00e8res engendreront de grosses avaries qui contraindront <strong>Condor<\/strong> \u00e0 suspendre le trafic \u00e0 partir d&rsquo;ao\u00fbt 1966 jusqu&rsquo;au printemps 1967.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le service inaugur\u00e9 par <strong>Condor 1<\/strong> devient rapidement un grand succ\u00e8s commercial. En 1975, <strong>Condor Ltd<\/strong> d\u00e9cide donc de remplacer son premier hydrofoil par le plus capacitaire <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/28\/condor-5-1976-1993-condor-ltd\/\" title=\"Condor 5 (1976 \u2013 1993) | Condor Ltd\">Condor 5<\/a><\/strong>. Condor 1 r\u00e9alise sa derni\u00e8re travers\u00e9e le 2 juin 1976, puis est vendu \u00e0 <strong>SNAV<\/strong>. L&rsquo;hydrofoil est renomm\u00e9 <strong>Freccia di Sicilia<\/strong> et introduit sur les lignes c\u00f4ti\u00e8res de SNAV \u00e0 partir de l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1977.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L&rsquo;ex-<strong>Condor 1<\/strong> r\u00e9alise ses derni\u00e8res travers\u00e9es au cours de l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1998, puis est d\u00e9mantel\u00e9 par ses
