Sa mise en service permet le remplacement du <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/27\/condor-1-1964-1976-condor-ltd\/\" title=\"Condor 1 (1964-1976) | Condor Ltd\">Condor 1<\/a><\/strong>, qui op\u00e9rait la ligne Saint-Malo &#8211; Jersey &#8211; Guernesey depuis 1964. L&rsquo;acquisition de <strong>Condor 5<\/strong> est pr\u00e9cipit\u00e9e par le succ\u00e8s grandissant des services op\u00e9r\u00e9s par Condor Ltd. Ainsi, <strong>Condor 5<\/strong> est achet\u00e9 sur \u00e9tag\u00e8re, avec signature du contrat le 6 avril 1976 pour une livraison \u00e0 peine plus d&rsquo;un mois apr\u00e8s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Condor 5<\/strong> est livr\u00e9 \u00e0 Guernesey le 28 mai 1976 et entame ses travers\u00e9es d\u00e8s le 2 juin. L&rsquo;hydrofoil est repeint l&rsquo;hiver suivant pour adopter la livr\u00e9e de <strong>Condor<\/strong>. \u00c0 sa livraison, sa livr\u00e9e \u00e9tait en effet celle qui avait \u00e9t\u00e9 appos\u00e9e lors de sa construction, moyennant quelques adaptations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1987, <strong>Condor 5<\/strong> contribue au lancement de la liaison Weymouth &#8211; Saint-Malo via les \u00celes Anglo-normandes, exp\u00e9riment\u00e9e en septembre 1986 avec <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/31\/condor-7-1985-1994-condor-ltd\/\" title=\"Condor 7 (1985-1994) | Condor Ltd\">Condor 7<\/a><\/strong>. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la technologie hydrofoil, les temps de travers\u00e9es sont divis\u00e9s par deux entre Guernesey et Weymouth par rapport aux ferries conventionnels op\u00e9r\u00e9s par <strong>British Channel Island Ferries<\/strong>. Cependant, les probl\u00e8mes de mise au point du nouveau navire contraignent <strong>Condor<\/strong> \u00e0 reporter le d\u00e9sarmement de <strong>Condor 5<\/strong>, qui op\u00e8re durant toute la saison 1991. <strong>Condor 5<\/strong> ouvre m\u00eame la ligne Guernesey &#8211; Jersey &#8211; Saint-Malo le 8 avril 1992, jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 ce que <strong>Condor 7<\/strong> puisse prendre sa place le 21 avril 1992.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 l&rsquo;issue de sa derni\u00e8re travers\u00e9e entre Saint-Malo et les \u00eeles Anglo-normandes, <strong>Condor 5<\/strong> reste d\u00e9sarm\u00e9 dans le port de Saint-Malo. Ce navire ne faisant pas partie de l&rsquo;acquisition de <strong>Condor Ltd<\/strong> par le groupe <strong>TNT<\/strong>, sa propri\u00e9t\u00e9 est transf\u00e9r\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;ancien actionnaire majoritaire <strong>Commodore Ltd<\/strong> qui met l&rsquo;hydropt\u00e8re en vente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En d\u00e9cembre 1993, <strong>Condor 5<\/strong> et <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/29\/condor-4-1973-1990-condor-ltd\/\" title=\"Condor 4 (1973-1990) | Condor Ltd\">Condor 4<\/a><\/strong> sont acquis par l&rsquo;armement grec <strong>Hermes Ferries Shipping Co<\/strong>. Apr\u00e8s car\u00e9nage \u00e0 Saint-Malo, l&rsquo;ex-<strong>Condor 5<\/strong> est renomm\u00e9 <strong>Iptamenos Hermes 3<\/strong> et export\u00e9 en avril 1994 vers la Gr\u00e8ce. L&rsquo;hydropt\u00e8re est une nouvelle fois vendu en 1998, \u00e0 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 <strong>Speedy Lines<\/strong> qui le rebaptise <strong>Santorini Dolphin 2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le navire
