{"id":1471,"date":"2025-08-02T10:15:06","date_gmt":"2025-08-02T08:15:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/?p=1471"},"modified":"2025-09-25T07:16:41","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T05:16:41","slug":"condor-9-1990-2002-condor-ferries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/02\/condor-9-1990-2002-condor-ferries\/","title":{"rendered":"Condor 9 (1990-2002) | Condor Ferries"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Condor 9<\/strong> est un catamaran \u00e0 grande vitesse-construit en 1989-1990 par <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/condor-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1964\/\" title=\"Condor Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1964\">Condor Ferries<\/a><\/strong>, pour renforcer le service de la ligne Weymouth &#8211; \u00celes Anglo-normandes. <strong>Condor 9<\/strong> op\u00e8re ce service jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;automne 1993, lorsque le service est int\u00e9gralement repris par le car-ferry <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/02\/hsc-condor-10-1993-2002-2010-condor-ferries\/\" title=\"HSC Condor 10 (1993-1994, 2002-2010) | Condor Ferries\">Condor 10<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apr\u00e8s un affr\u00e8tement d&rsquo;une ann\u00e9e \u00e0 <strong>Viking Line<\/strong>, <strong>Condor 9<\/strong> r\u00e9int\u00e8gre la flotte de <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong> en ao\u00fbt 1995, pour op\u00e9rer des excursions \u00e0 la journ\u00e9e entre Torquay et les \u00eeles Anglo-normandes. \u00c0 partir de 1997, <strong>Condor 9<\/strong> op\u00e8re la ligne Saint-Malo &#8211; \u00celes Anglo-normandes jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 son remplacement par <strong>Condor 10<\/strong>, en 2002.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Devenu redondant dans la flotte, <strong>Condor 9<\/strong> est alors mis en vente. Il faut attendre septembre 1986, \u00e0 la faveur d&rsquo;une gr\u00e8ve des marins de Sealink, pour que <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong> op\u00e8re ses premi\u00e8res travers\u00e9es vers la Grande-Bretagne. Ce service embryonnaire est un succ\u00e8s, motivant sa p\u00e9rennisation \u00e0 compter de l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1987.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les premi\u00e8res travers\u00e9es sont op\u00e9r\u00e9es par les hydropt\u00e8res <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/28\/condor-5-1976-1993-condor-ltd\/\" title=\"Condor 5 (1976 \u2013 1993) | Condor Ltd\">Condor 5<\/a><\/strong> (livr\u00e9 en 1976) et <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/31\/condor-7-1985-1994-condor-ltd\/\" title=\"Condor 7 (1985-1994) | Condor Ltd\">Condor 7<\/a><\/strong> (livr\u00e9 en 1985). Cependant, ces derniers accusent leur \u00e2ge et le 18 avril 1989, <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong> annonce la commande d&rsquo;un catamaran de 49 m\u00e8tres de long, pour un montant de 5 millions de livre sterling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le catamaran est construit par les chantiers <em>Aluminium Shipbuilders<\/em> de Fareham (Angleterre), sous une licence des chantiers australiens <em>Incat<\/em>. <strong>Condor 9<\/strong> adopte en effet le design perce-vague mis en service pour la premi\u00e8re fois en d\u00e9cembre 1986 avec le <strong>HSC Tassie Devil 2001<\/strong>. Cependant, sa construction prend du retard et le catamaran est lanc\u00e9 le 23 juin 1990. Livr\u00e9 le 11 ao\u00fbt 1990 \u00e0 Saint-Pierre-Port, <strong>Condor 9<\/strong> est baptis\u00e9 le 13 ao\u00fbt 1990. Il se rend ensuite \u00e0 Saint-Malo pour des essais d&rsquo;accostage, puis \u00e0 Weymouth et Jersey le lendemain. Pr\u00e9vue sans voyageurs, la travers\u00e9e entre Weymouth et Jersey devient sa travers\u00e9e inaugurale \u00e0 la faveur d&rsquo;une panne de l&rsquo;hydropt\u00e8re <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/31\/condor-7-1985-1994-condor-ltd\/\" title=\"Condor 7 (1985-1994) | Condor Ltd\">Condor 7<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Condor 9<\/strong> op\u00e8re sa premi\u00e8re travers\u00e9e programm\u00e9e le 17 ao\u00fbt 1990, au milieu d&rsquo;une m\u00e9t\u00e9o peu cl\u00e9mente. Le catamaran y fait preuve d&rsquo;une tenue \u00e0 la mer m\u00e9diocre, contraignant <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/condor-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1964\/\" title=\"Condor Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1964\">Condor Ferries<\/a><\/strong> \u00e0 le retirer du service commercial d\u00e8s le 19 ao\u00fbt. Pour l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 2002, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/condor-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1964\/\" title=\"Condor Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1964\">Condor Ferries<\/a><\/strong> tire partie du terme de l&rsquo;affr\u00e8tement de <strong>Condor 10<\/strong> pour inaugurer son propre service de car-ferry entre Saint-Malo et et les \u00celes Anglo-normandes. <strong>Condor 9<\/strong> est alors vendu \u00e0 <strong>Stetson Navigation<\/strong> qui l&rsquo;engage sur la ligne La Paz &#8211; Topolobampo (Mexique) sous le nom <strong>Cortez<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le 15 avril 2003, <strong>Cortez<\/strong> heurte le quai \u00e0 Puerto Vallerta. Le choc perfore sa coque et engendre l&rsquo;inondation de la salle des machines. Mis en vente en l&rsquo;\u00e9tat, il est acquis par la compagnie \u00e9tasunienne <strong>Cross Sound Ferry<\/strong> qui le fait r\u00e9parer. Le 27 ao\u00fbt 2004, le catamaran d\u00e9bute son service entre New London (Connecticut) et Block Island sous le nom <strong>Jessica W<\/strong>.
