La mise en service de <strong>Condor Liberation<\/strong> permet le remplacement de <strong>Condor Express<\/strong> et de <strong>Condor Vitesse<\/strong> sur les relations entre l&rsquo;Angleterre et les \u00eeles Anglo-normandes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lorsque <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong> perd la concession de desserte de Jersey en mars 2025, <strong>Condor Liberation<\/strong> devient redondant dans la flotte. Olsen Express<\/strong>. D&rsquo;une longueur de 126 m\u00e8tres, ce navire \u00e0 grande vitesse est le premier \u00e0 adopter l&rsquo;architecture d&rsquo;un trimaran. Cette architecture r\u00e9duit la r\u00e9sistance \u00e0 l&rsquo;avancement et simplifie la maintenance, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l&rsquo;installation de toute la motorisation dans la seule coque centrale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Par rapport \u00e0 un catamaran, <strong>Benchijigua Express<\/strong> dispose d&rsquo;une capacit\u00e9 accrue \u00e0 maintenir une vitesse sup\u00e9rieure \u00e0 30 n\u0153uds par mer form\u00e9e. Si l&rsquo;amplitude de ses mouvements de g\u00eete est plus importante, ses mouvements sont plus graduels que ceux d&rsquo;un catamaran. Cependant, \u00e0 basse ou moyenne vitesse, le trimaran est beaucoup plus sujet au roulis qu&rsquo;un catamaran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malgr\u00e9 les int\u00e9r\u00eats de cette architecture, elle n&rsquo;int\u00e9resse pas d&rsquo;autres op\u00e9rateurs de la marine marchande. Alors que la crise \u00e9conomique r\u00e9duit les commandes de navires \u00e0 grande vitesse, <strong>Austal<\/strong> d\u00e9cide n\u00e9anmoins de faire construire un nouveau trimaran par ses chantiers philippins. US Navy<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La gen\u00e8se du trimaran Austal Hull 270<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Afin de soutenir l&rsquo;activit\u00e9 de ces chantiers philippins, <strong>Austal<\/strong> lance la construction du <strong>Austal Hull 270<\/strong> le 27 novembre 2008, avec la pose de sa quille. La construction du trimaran est financ\u00e9e en parte gr\u00e2ce au groupe Macquarie. L&rsquo;<strong>Austal Hull 270<\/strong> se distingue du <strong>Benchijigua Express<\/strong> sur plusieurs points. Il ne dispose en effet que de trois moteurs au lieu de quatre. Par ailleurs, les ailerons de stabilisation, sur la coque centrale, sont remplac\u00e9s par deux T-Foils implant\u00e9s \u00e0 l&rsquo;arri\u00e8re des coques lat\u00e9rales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le 14 d\u00e9cembre 2009, le trimaran <strong>Austal Hull 270<\/strong> est lanc\u00e9 et mis \u00e0 disposition sur le march\u00e9 de l&rsquo;affr\u00e8tement. Plusieurs pistes seront \u00e9voqu\u00e9es pour exploiter le navire, mais aucune ne se concr\u00e9tise. Parmi elles, <strong>Euroferries<\/strong> annonce le 18 octobre 2012 l&rsquo;affr\u00e8tement du navire pour service entre les ports de Boulogne (France) et Ramsgate (Angleterre).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dans le m\u00eame temps, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/condor-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1964\/\" title=\"Condor Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1964\">Condor Ferries<\/a><\/strong> n\u00e9gocie avec les gouvernements de Jersey et de Guernesey l&rsquo;extension de sa concession de desserte des \u00eeles Anglo-normandes, qui devait expirer en 2018. <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong> propose ainsi de renouveler les <strong>Condor Express<\/strong> et <strong>Condor Vitesse<\/strong> par un nouveau navire, en contrepartie de l&rsquo;extension de sa concession jusqu&rsquo;en mars 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un nouveau navire amiral pour Condor Ferries<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En mai 2014, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/condor-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1964\/\" title=\"Condor Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1964\">Condor Ferries<\/a><\/strong> annonce l&rsquo;acquisition du trimaran <strong>Austal Hull 270<\/strong> pour une mise en service annonc\u00e9e en mars 2015. En amont de son transfert vers l&rsquo;Europe, plusieurs modifications sont op\u00e9r\u00e9es sur le navire. Les plus visibles sont l&rsquo;installation d&rsquo;une rampe \u00e0 la poupe et la cr\u00e9ation d&rsquo;ailerons sur les c\u00f4t\u00e9s de la passerelle. Ces derniers permettent la man\u0153uvre \u00e0 vue dans les ports \u00e9troits de Saint-Pierre-Port et de Saint-H\u00e9lier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">D\u00e9nomm\u00e9 temporairement <strong>Condor 102<\/strong>, le trimaran gagne le port de Poole le 26 d\u00e9cembre 2014. Il y reste \u00e0 quai pendant les semaines suivantes, afin d&rsquo;am\u00e9nager ses espaces int\u00e9rieurs et de le peindre dans les nouvelles couleurs de <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong>. Pendant ce temps, la compagnie organise avec le <strong>Jersey Evening Post<\/strong> et <strong>Guernsey Press<\/strong> un concours pour nommer le navire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">7000 propositions sont re\u00e7ues et fin-janvier 2015, <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong> annonce que son nouveau navire serait baptis\u00e9 <strong>Condor Liberation<\/strong>, rendant hommage au soixante-dixi\u00e8me anniversaire de la lib\u00e9ration de Jersey et de Guernesey, \u00e0 l&rsquo;issue de la Seconde guerre mondiale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Condor Liberation<\/strong> op\u00e8re ses premiers essais en mer \u00e0 compter du 10 mars 2015, puis visite les ports de Guernesey et de Jersey les 16 et 17 mars 2015. Entre les 20 et 22 mars 2015, des visites sont organis\u00e9es pour les habitants de Jersey et Guernesey. Afin de r\u00e9guler l&rsquo;affluence, une inscription de 2\u00a3 est demand\u00e9e, les recettes \u00e9tant par la suite revers\u00e9es \u00e0 des associations d&rsquo;aide aux personnes En effet, le comt\u00e9 du Dorset a refus\u00e9 d&rsquo;adapter le port aux dimensions du nouveau navire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">N\u00e9anmoins, d\u00e8s le lendemain, le 28 mars 2015, <strong>Condor Liberation<\/strong> est endommag\u00e9 alors qu&rsquo;il man\u0153uvre dans \u00e0 Saint-Pierre-Port. Alors que le navire est r\u00e9par\u00e9 \u00e0 Poole, <strong>Condor Express<\/strong> est r\u00e9arm\u00e9 pour le remplacer. <strong>Condor Liberation<\/strong> reprend du service le 05 avril mais, en laissant derri\u00e8re lui 24 voitures et 60 passagers. Le 9 mai, jour de comm\u00e9moration de la lib\u00e9ration de Jersey, le trimaran est victime d&rsquo;une panne de son propulseur d&rsquo;\u00e9trave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ces multiples incidents techniques attisent les critiques sur le navire. Au terme de deux mois de service, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/condor-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1964\/\" title=\"Condor Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1964\">Condor Ferries<\/a><\/strong> affirme n\u00e9anmoins que seules 10% des travers\u00e9es planifi\u00e9es ont \u00e9t\u00e9 annul\u00e9es, mais pr\u00e8s de 30% ont \u00e9t\u00e9 effectu\u00e9es avec plus d&rsquo;une heure de retard \u00e0 l&rsquo;arriv\u00e9e. De plus, pour rassurer l&rsquo;opinion publique qui s&rsquo;inqui\u00e8te de sa tenue \u00e0 la mer, <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong> fait r\u00e9aliser au cabinet <strong>Houlder<\/strong> un audit pour attester de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 du navire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La fiabilisation de Condor Liberation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le 20 octobre 2015, <strong>Condor Liberation<\/strong> op\u00e8re des essais d&rsquo;accostage \u00e0 Saint-Malo, en pr\u00e9vision de son affectation sur cette ligne au mois de janvier 2016 durant l&rsquo;arr\u00eat technique du <strong>Condor Rapide<\/strong>. Cependant, les essais d\u00e9montrent que seule la rampe 2 pourrait accueillir le navire en journ\u00e9e. De nuit, <strong>Condor Liberation<\/strong> sera oblig\u00e9 de retourner \u00e0 Jersey ou de d\u00e9haler au large de Saint-Malo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le 30 d\u00e9cembre 2015, <strong>Condor Liberation<\/strong> heurte le quai \u00e0 Poole, contraignant <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/condor-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1964\/\" title=\"Condor Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1964\">Condor Ferries<\/a><\/strong> \u00e0 inverser son arr\u00eat technique avec celui de Condor Rapide. C&rsquo;est ainsi en mars 2016 que <strong>Condor Liberation<\/strong> r\u00e9alisera ses premi\u00e8res travers\u00e9es au d\u00e9part de Saint-Malo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure Cette derni\u00e8re est n\u00e9anmoins restitu\u00e9e le 18 mars, apr\u00e8s que <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong> ait r\u00e9alis\u00e9 des travaux pour r\u00e9pondre aux d\u00e9faillances constat\u00e9es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alors que l&rsquo;horaire de l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 2015 proposait, en fin de semaine, deux rotations quotidiennes entre Poole et les \u00celes Anglo-normandes, celle-ci est supprim\u00e9e pour l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 2016. Sa suppression permet de consolider le temps allou\u00e9 \u00e0 la maintenance de nuit, alors que les horaires de d\u00e9part nocturnes n&rsquo;avaient pas convaincu les passagers. Cette mesure permet n\u00e9anmoins de r\u00e9tablir la ponctualit\u00e9 des services de <strong>Condor Liberation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure Le 27 f\u00e9vrier 2026, l&rsquo;armateur ib\u00e9rique <strong>Balearia<\/strong> annonce \u00eatre le nouveau propri\u00e9taire du trimaran, qui sera renomm\u00e9 <strong>Pepita Castellv\u00ed<\/strong>. Remorqu\u00e9 par le remorqueur <em>Multratug 18<\/em>, l&rsquo;ex-<strong>Condor Liberation<\/strong> quitte le port du Havre le 08 mars 2026.
