Ses premiers mois de service sont marqu\u00e9s par de nombreux incidents techniques, qui poussent les bailliages \u00e0 mettre en concurrence les activit\u00e9s de <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/condor-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1964\/\" title=\"Condor Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1964\">Condor Ferries<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Condor Express<\/strong> desservira les \u00eeles Anglo-normandes jusqu&rsquo;en 2015 et son remplacement par <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/11\/16\/hsc-condor-liberation-2015-2025-condor-ferries\/\" title=\"HSC Condor Liberation (2015-2025) | Condor Ferries\">Condor Liberation<\/a>. Pour concurrencer le service conventionnel op\u00e9r\u00e9 par <strong>British Channel Island Ferries<\/strong>, la compagnie positionne <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/02\/hsc-condor-10-1993-2002-2010-condor-ferries\/\" title=\"HSC Condor 10 (1993-1994, 2002-2010) | Condor Ferries\">Condor 10<\/a><\/strong>, un catamaran apte \u00e0 la vitesse de 35 n\u0153uds et capable d&rsquo;accueillir 84 voitures. Le service se r\u00e9v\u00e8le rapidement \u00eatre un succ\u00e8s commercial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>D\u00e8s l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1995, <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong> remplace <strong>Condor 10<\/strong> par un catamaran plus capacitaire <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/29\/hsc-condor-11-1995-condor-ferries\/\" title=\"HSC Condor 11 (1995) | Condor Ferries\">Condor 11<\/a><\/strong>. Cependant, ce dernier manque de puissance et peine \u00e0 tenir les horaires. L&rsquo;ann\u00e9e d&rsquo;apr\u00e8s, la compagnie affr\u00e8te donc <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/01\/hsc-condor-12-1996-condor-ferries\/\" title=\"HSC Condor 12 (1996) | Condor Ferries\">Condor 12<\/a><\/strong>, une \u00e9volution du design de <strong>Condor 11<\/strong>, alors que <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong> fait construire un nouveau navire pour op\u00e9rer ses liaisons vers les \u00eeles Anglo-normandes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le 42\u00e8me navire d&rsquo;<strong>Incat<\/strong> est lanc\u00e9 le 24 novembre 1996. Avec ses 86 m\u00e8tres de longueur, il est alors le plus gros catamaran car-ferry construit par les chantiers australiens. Trois semaines apr\u00e8s, il appareille de Sydney pour Poole le 17 d\u00e9cembre 1996 sous le nom <strong>Condor Express<\/strong>. <strong>Condor Express<\/strong> arrive \u00e0 Poole, son futur port d&rsquo;attache, le 15 janvier 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Les d\u00e9buts troubl\u00e9s de Condor Express<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Condor Express<\/strong> op\u00e8re sa premi\u00e8re travers\u00e9e au d\u00e9part de Weymouth vers Guernesey et Jersey le 31 janvier 1997, lib\u00e9rant le <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/10\/01\/hsc-condor-12-1996-condor-ferries\/\" title=\"HSC Condor 12 (1996) | Condor Ferries\">Condor 12<\/a><\/strong>. L&rsquo;hiver 1996-97 est alors le premier o\u00f9 <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/condor-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1964\/\" title=\"Condor Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1964\">Condor Ferries<\/a><\/strong> maintient le service de ses catamarans au c\u0153ur de l&rsquo;hiver. Le ferry conventionnel <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/19\/m-v-cornouailles-1977-1989-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Cornouailles (1977-1989) \u2013 Brittany Ferries\">Havelet<\/a><\/strong> avait \u00e0 cet effet \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9sarm\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;issue de l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1996.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La mise en service de <strong>Condor Express<\/strong> s&rsquo;accompagne de la d\u00e9cision de <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong> de recentrer ses activit\u00e9s vers le port de Poole. En d\u00e9pit de l&rsquo;allongement d&rsquo;une demi-heure du temps de travers\u00e9e, ce port offre en effet une meilleure connectivit\u00e9 au reste de l&rsquo;Angleterre que Weymouth. La premi\u00e8re travers\u00e9e depuis Poole est op\u00e9r\u00e9e le 1er mars 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>N\u00e9anmoins, l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1997 est marqu\u00e9 par les nombreuses d\u00e9faillances techniques de <strong>Condor Express<\/strong>. Au cours de l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9, seules 79% des rotations arrivent \u00e0 Poole avec moins d\u2019une heure de retard sur l\u2019horaire pr\u00e9vu. En parall\u00e8le, la compagnie \u00e9tudie le lancement pour l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1998 d&rsquo;une nouvelle ligne Weymouth &#8211; Guernesey &#8211; Saint-Malo et vou\u00e9e \u00e0 \u00eatre permet d&rsquo;am\u00e9liorer la fiabilit\u00e9 de <strong>Condor Express<\/strong> qui offre d\u00e8s lors un service fiable aux \u00eeles Anglo-normandes. <strong>Condor Express<\/strong> est repositionn\u00e9 au d\u00e9part de Weymouth \u00e0 compter de l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 2001, qui perd \u00e0 cette occasion son statut de ligne saisonni\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure Entre temps, il a en effet \u00e9t\u00e9 renomm\u00e9 <strong>Champion Jet 2<\/strong> et r\u00e9immatricul\u00e9 sous pavillon chypriote. \u00c0 Chalcis, le catamaran b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d&rsquo;un nouveau passage en cale s\u00e8che, pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent son affectation sur les lignes saisonni\u00e8res reliant Le Pir\u00e9e &#8211; \u00e0 l&rsquo;archipel des Cyclades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le 5 juillet 2019, l&rsquo;un des quatre moteurs de propulsion de <strong>Champion Jet 2<\/strong> tombe en panne. En cons\u00e9quence, le catamaran est d\u00e9tenu par les Affaires maritimes grecques au port de Thira jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 ce qu&rsquo;il ait \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9par\u00e9. La panne se reproduit le 26 septembre.
