Il op\u00e8re ses premi\u00e8res travers\u00e9es vers les \u00celes Anglo-normandes en 1993 pour <strong>Channiland<\/strong>. Pour moderniser les activit\u00e9s maritimes de la <strong>SNCF<\/strong>, un Groupement d&rsquo;Int\u00e9r\u00eat \u00c9conomique est fond\u00e9 en 1990 qui se dote d&rsquo;une filiale, la <strong>Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 Nouvelle d&rsquo;Armement Transmanche<\/strong> (<strong>SNAT<\/strong>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En plus de ces activit\u00e9s historiques, la <strong>SNAT<\/strong> se met en recherche de relais de croissance et d\u00e9cide de s&rsquo;implanter sur le march\u00e9 des \u00eeles Anglo-normandes, afin de concurrencer les activit\u00e9s de <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/condor-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1964\/\" title=\"Condor Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1964\">Condor Ferries<\/a><\/strong> et d&rsquo;<strong>\u00c9meraude Lines<\/strong> depuis Saint-Malo et les ports du Cotentin. Pour ce faire, la compagnie acquiert deux catamarans livr\u00e9s en 1992 et 1993 afin de les op\u00e9rer sous la marque <strong>Channiland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le catamaran d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 la ligne de Saint-Malo est construit par <em>FBM Marine Technology<\/em> et est issu d&rsquo;une classe qui comptera six sister-ship. Baptis\u00e9 <strong>Saint-Malo<\/strong>, il est livr\u00e9 le 18 mai 1993 et d\u00e9bute ses rotations le 29 mai 1995. Cependant, la concurrence est rude et ne permet pas \u00e0 <strong>Channiland<\/strong> de r\u00e9aliser les b\u00e9n\u00e9fices escompt\u00e9s. \u00c0 compter du printemps 1994, <strong>Channiland<\/strong> et <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong> s&rsquo;entendent donc pour co-exploiter leurs services. Cet accord entra\u00eenera le d\u00e9sarmement de <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/31\/condor-7-1985-1994-condor-ltd\/\" title=\"Condor 7 (1985-1994) | Condor Ltd\">Condor 7<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Les naufrages de Saint-Malo et de Channiland<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apr\u00e8s une saison 1994 r\u00e9ussie, <strong>Saint-Malo<\/strong> d\u00e9bute son troisi\u00e8me \u00e9t\u00e9 de service pour <strong>Channiland<\/strong> en avril 1995. Cependant, l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e 1995 d\u00e9bute par l&rsquo;\u00e9chouage de <strong>Saint-Malo<\/strong> sur des hauts fonds \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 du phare de Corbi\u00e8re, \u00e0 Jersey, le 17 avril 1995. Le catamaran \u00e9tait alors en route de Jersey vers Sercq et Guernesey avec 307 passagers \u00e0 bord, dont une cinquantaine est bless\u00e9e dans l&rsquo;accident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La responsabilit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;accident sera imput\u00e9e au commandant Penean qui n&rsquo;a pas cherch\u00e9 \u00e0 arr\u00eater <strong>Saint-Malo<\/strong> lorsqu&rsquo;il s&rsquo;est rendu compte que ce dernier avait d\u00e9vi\u00e9 de sa trajectoire. De plus, les enqu\u00eateurs britanniques pointeront un \u00e9quipe de sauvetage d\u00e9faillant \u00e0 bord du navire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Saint-Malo<\/strong> est \u00e9chou\u00e9 dans la baie de Saint-Aubin (Jersey) avent d&rsquo;\u00eatre remorqu\u00e9 jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 Cherbourg o\u00f9 il est r\u00e9par\u00e9. <strong>Saint-Malo<\/strong> reprend son service le 19 ao\u00fbt 1995. En avril 1996, la compagnie annonce donc l&rsquo;affr\u00e8tement du catamaran qui est renomm\u00e9 <strong>Condor France<\/strong>. <strong>Condor France<\/strong> d\u00e9bute ses rotations le 22 avril 1996.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00c0 compter de l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1997, <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong> introduit le catamaran <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/02\/condor-9-1990-2002-condor-ferries\/\" title=\"Condor 9 (1990-2002) | Condor Ferries\">Condor 9<\/a><\/strong> sur la ligne Saint-Malo &#8211; \u00celes Anglo-normandes. Cependant, le march\u00e9 n&rsquo;est pas assez important pour rentabiliser trois navires sur cette ligne, contraignant \u00e0 partager entre <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/02\/condor-8-1988-1997-condor-ltd\/\" title=\"Condor 8 (1988-1997) | Condor Ltd\">Condor 8<\/a><\/strong> et <strong>Condor France<\/strong> les horaires op\u00e9r\u00e9s l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e d&rsquo;avant avec le second navire. <strong>Condor 8<\/strong> sera finalement vendu au terme de l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1997.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00c0 l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1998, <strong>Condor Ferries<\/strong> cr\u00e9e une rotation en car-ferry entre Saint-Malo et Guernesey avec son nouveau navire, <strong>Condor Vitesse<\/strong>. Combin\u00e9e \u00e0 la concurrence exerc\u00e9e par <strong>\u00c9meraude Lines<\/strong>, ce service nuit \u00e0 la rentabilit\u00e9 des services op\u00e9r\u00e9s par <strong>Condor France<\/strong>, dont l&rsquo;affr\u00e8tement n&rsquo;est pas renouvel\u00e9 pour l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e d&rsquo;apr\u00e8s. <strong>Condor France<\/strong> op\u00e8re sa derni\u00e8re travers\u00e9e le les Antilles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En janvier 1999, le catamaran est acquis par <strong>Brudy Frirs<\/strong> qui le renomme <strong>Acacia<\/strong> en pr\u00e9vision d&rsquo;une nouvelle carri\u00e8re \u00e0 la Guadeloupe. Au m\u00eame moment, <strong>\u00c9meraude Lines<\/strong> acquiert l&rsquo;un des sister-ship de l&rsquo;ex-<strong>Condor France<\/strong> et le renomme <strong>Normandie Express<\/strong>.
