Avec son sister-ship, <strong>M\/V Norbank<\/strong>, il op\u00e8re un service de fret sur la ligne Hull (Angleterre) &#8211; Rotterdam (Pays-Bas) jusqu&rsquo;en 2002. Naviguant sous les couleurs de P&amp;O Ferries depuis 1996, <strong>M\/V Norbay<\/strong> est transf\u00e9r\u00e9 sur la ligne Liverpool &#8211; Dublin qu&rsquo;il op\u00e8re jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 sa fermeture en 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 2023-2024, <strong>M\/V Norbay<\/strong> est affr\u00e9t\u00e9 par l&rsquo;armement irlandais <strong>Irish Ferries<\/strong>. Il reprend du service pour P&amp;O en juillet 2024, o\u00f9 il op\u00e8re en appoint sur ses lignes de la mer du Nord. La compagnie d\u00e9bute ses op\u00e9rations en d\u00e9cembre avec deux rouliers, <strong>M\/V Norwave<\/strong> et <strong>M\/V Norwind<\/strong>. En 1974, la compagnie renforce sa flotte avec la mise en service de deux navires davantage orient\u00e9s sur le trafic passagers, <strong>M\/V Norland<\/strong> et <strong>M\/V Norstar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1992, <strong>North Sea Ferries<\/strong> commande aux chantiers n\u00e9erlandais <em>Van der Giessen de Noord <\/em>deux cargos mixtes pour renouveler sa flotte. Ces derniers sont une \u00e9volution d&rsquo;une s\u00e9rie de cinq navires, co-con\u00e7ue par Van der Giessen de Noord et Fincantiri pour un armateur italien. Le premier, <strong>M\/V Norbank<\/strong>, est lanc\u00e9 en juin 1993. Le second, qui deviendra le <strong>M\/V Norbay<\/strong>, est lanc\u00e9 le 13 novembre 1993. <strong>M\/V Norbay<\/strong> est livr\u00e9 en f\u00e9vier 1994 \u00e0 <strong>North Sea Ferries<\/strong> et est enregistr\u00e9 sous pavillon britannique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>M\/V Norbay<\/strong> assure sa premi\u00e8re travers\u00e9e le 28 f\u00e9vrier 1994. Juste avant ce transfert, <strong>M\/V Norbay<\/strong> a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9immatricul\u00e9 sous pavillon des Bermudes tout en conservant son \u00e9quipage britannique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 compter de 2009, <strong>M\/V Norbay<\/strong> est mobilis\u00e9 ponctuellement sur la ligne Larne (Irlande du Nord) &#8211; Cairnryan (\u00c9cosse). Il y couvre les arr\u00eats techniques des deux navires titulaires de la ligne, <strong>M\/V European Causeway<\/strong> et <strong>M\/V European Highlander<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le 16 avril 2020, M\/V Norbay est d\u00e9tenu dans le port de Liverpool. Les autorit\u00e9s r\u00e9clament \u00e0 P&amp;O Ferries 600 000\u00a3 d&rsquo;arri\u00e9r\u00e9s de fras de port.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le 17 mars 2022, <strong>M\/V Norbay<\/strong> fait partie des navires de <strong>P&amp;O Ferries<\/strong> immobilis\u00e9s \u00e0 quai lorsque la compagnie annonce le limogeage de ses marins britanniques. Ceux-ci sont remplac\u00e9s par des marins asiatiques pour des salaires bien moindres. Cette d\u00e9cision contest\u00e9e entra\u00eenera le vote en France de la loi Le Gac contre le dumping salarial dans le transport maritime. Une loi similaire sera \u00e9galement vot\u00e9e par le parlement britannique. <strong>M\/V Norbay<\/strong> reprend la mer un ois plus tard, le 21 avril.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 l&rsquo;automne 2023, <strong>P&amp;O Ferries<\/strong> annonce la fermeture de sa ligne Liverpool &#8211; Dublin pour le mois de d\u00e9cembre. <strong>M\/V Norbay<\/strong> la quitte d\u00e8s le 16 octobre, en pr\u00e9alable \u00e0 son affr\u00e8tement \u00e0 <strong>Irish Ferries<\/strong>. Quant \u00e0 son sister-ship <strong>M\/V Norbank<\/strong>, il est engag\u00e9 sur la ligne Rotterdam &#8211; Tilburry jusqu&rsquo;en mars 2025.
