A. Olsson<\/strong>, qui op\u00e8re alors des travers\u00e9es sur le d\u00e9troit du Kattegat, destin\u00e9s avant tout aux su\u00e9dois \u00e0 la recherche de biens d\u00e9tax\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En 1973, le navire est acquis par les <strong>Vedettes Armoricaines<\/strong>, un armateur bas\u00e9 \u00e0 Brest. \u00c0 compter du 19 mai, le navire inaugure le premier service \u00e0 passagers entre Roscoff (France) et Plymouth (Angleterre), en partenariat avec <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/brittany-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1973\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1973\"><strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le navire est revendu d\u00e8s septembre 1973. Cette ann\u00e9e-l\u00e0, <em>Sten A. Olsson<\/em> cr\u00e9e son activit\u00e9 de n\u00e9goce de m\u00e9tal \u00e0 recycler. Son entreprise prend le large en 1947, lorsqu\u2019elle acquiert un baleinier qu\u2019elle transforme en navire de commerce. Celui-ci lui permet de transporter les m\u00e9taux usagers le long de la c\u00f4te Ouest de la Su\u00e8de.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En 1962, <em>Sten A. Olsson<\/em> fonde la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 <strong>Skagenlinjen<\/strong>. Sa premi\u00e8re ligne relie G\u00f6teborg (Su\u00e8de) \u00e0 Skagen (Danemark) et transporte uniquement des passagers sur le d\u00e9troit du Kattegat. Le principal march\u00e9 vis\u00e9 par ces travers\u00e9es est en effet celui de r\u00e9sidents su\u00e9dois et danois, qui profitent de la travers\u00e9e pour acqu\u00e9rir \u00e0 bord des biens d\u00e9tax\u00e9s. Le premier navire de la compagnie est le <strong>M\/V \u00d8sters\u00f8en<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Malgr\u00e9 une interruption du service au d\u00e9but de l\u2019ann\u00e9e 1963, en raison d\u2019une \u00e9paisse couche de glace sur le Kattegatt, celle-ci s\u2019annonce sous les meilleurs auspices. En effet, les employ\u00e9s du monopole su\u00e9dois de vente de l\u2019alcool entament une gr\u00e8ve. Nombre de su\u00e9dois \u00e0 la recherche d\u2019alcool s\u2019orientent donc vers le service de <strong>Skagenlinjen<\/strong>, qui est d\u00e9sormais op\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019aide de trois navires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pos\u00e9idon, premier navire construit pour Skagenlinjen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Au d\u00e9but de l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 1963, <em>Sten A. Olsson<\/em> commande son premier navire neuf aux chantiers norv\u00e9giens <em>Ulstein Mekaniscke Verksteder<\/em>. Le ferry est livr\u00e9 le 21 juin 1964 \u00e0 <strong>Stena Oy<\/strong>. Quelques jours apr\u00e8s, le 24 juin, le fra\u00eechement baptis\u00e9 <strong>M\/V Pos\u00e9idon<\/strong> accueille \u00e0 son bord le pr\u00e9sident du Conseil des ministres d\u2019Union Sovi\u00e9tique, Nikita Khrouchtchev, \u00e0 l\u2019occasion d\u2019une visite de ce dernier des industries navales de G\u00f6teborg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apr\u00e8s cette visite, qui offre \u00e0 <em>Sten A. Olsson<\/em> une bonne couverture m\u00e9diatique, <strong>M\/V Pos\u00e9idon<\/strong> d\u00e9bute son service sur la ligne G\u00f6teborg (Su\u00e8de) &#8211; Skagen (Danemark). Certaines travers\u00e9es sont pouss\u00e9es jusqu\u2019\u00e0 Frederikshaven (Danemark).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L\u2019ann\u00e9e suivante, <strong>M\/V Pos\u00e9idon<\/strong> est d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 sur la ligne Trelleborg (Su\u00e8de) &#8211; Copenhague (Danemark). Le Bris. Initialement, le navire est utilis\u00e9 sur des affr\u00e8tement \u00e0 temps, notamment pour transporter des groupes scolaires entre Saint-Malo et Jersey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cependant, le lancement par <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/brittany-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1973\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1973\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong> de la ligne Roscoff &#8211; Plymouth, fait entrevoir une autre possibilit\u00e9 pour d\u00e9ployer le navire. En effet, celle-ci est op\u00e9r\u00e9e par le fr\u00e9teur <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/03\/m-v-kerisnel-1973-1974-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Kerisnel (1973-1974) \u2013 Brittany Ferries\">M\/V Kerisnel<\/a><\/strong>, qui refuse alors r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement des passagers souhaitant gagner l\u2019Angleterre. M.Le Bris propose donc \u00e0 <strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong> de d\u00e9ployer son navire sur des travers\u00e9es r\u00e9serv\u00e9es aux passagers durant l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 1973, permettant \u00e0 l&rsquo;armateur roscovite de tester le march\u00e9 du passager sans attendre la livraison de son premier navire-mixte, le futur <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/02\/m-v-penn-ar-bed-1974-1984-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Penn-Ar-Bed (1974-1984) | Brittany Ferries\">M\/V Penn-Ar-Bed<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>M\/V Pos\u00e9idon<\/strong> op\u00e8re sa premi\u00e8re travers\u00e9e le 15 mai 1973. Cependant, les tensions entre <strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong> et les <strong>Vedettes Armoricaines<\/strong> montent rapidement. Alors que la premi\u00e8re, soucieuse de d\u00e9montrer sa cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9 au march\u00e9 du fret, assure tous ses d\u00e9parts pr\u00e9vus ind\u00e9pendamment de la fr\u00e9quentation \u00e0 bord, les <strong>Vedettes Armoricaines<\/strong> privil\u00e9gient la rentabilit\u00e9 du service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ainsi, \u00e0 de nombreuses reprises, <strong>M\/V Pos\u00e9idon<\/strong> reste en attente au port jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce qu\u2019il y ait \u00e0 bord un nombre suffisant de passagers pour que la compagnie puisse rentrer dans ses frais. Le 15 septembre 1973, au terme de la saison, 9 000 passagers auront \u00e9t\u00e9 transport\u00e9s entre Roscoff et Plymouth, avec en moyenne 120 passagers \u00e0 bord de chaque travers\u00e9e de <strong>M\/V Pos\u00e9idon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">La nouvelle carri\u00e8re de M\/V Pos\u00e9idon entre l&rsquo;Allemagne et le Danemark<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En septembre 1973, <strong>M\/V Pos\u00e9idon<\/strong> est vendu \u00e0 <em>L. Remeews Becker<\/em>. \u00c0 compter du 10 juin, le navire relie Flessingue (Pays-Bas) \u00e0 Londres (Angleterre). Quelques jours apr\u00e8s, faute de trafic, le port anglais est repositionn\u00e9 \u00e0 Great Yarmouth. Mais le trafic n\u2019\u00e9tant toujours pas au rendez-vous, <strong>M\/V Pos\u00e9idon<\/strong> est rapidement transf\u00e9r\u00e9 sur une ligne Flessingue &#8211; Zeebruges (Belgique) avant d&rsquo;\u00eatre d\u00e9sarm\u00e9 d\u00e8s le 06 juillet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Apr\u00e8s cet \u00e9chec, <strong>M\/V Pos\u00e9idon<\/strong> est vendu le 07 juillet 1975 \u00e0 <strong>A.G. Ems<\/strong> qui fait refondre le navire aux chantiers Meyer Werft de Papenburg. Revendu le 31 d\u00e9cembre 1977 \u00e0 <strong>KG Seetouristik GmbH<\/strong>, il est engag\u00e9 \u00e0 compter de 1978 sur la ligne Fehmarn (Allemagne) &#8211; R\u00f8dbyhavn (Danemark). Apr\u00e8s plusieurs ann\u00e9es d&rsquo;errance, <strong>M\/V Pos\u00e9idon<\/strong> vient d&rsquo;accoster dans un port o\u00f9 il passera les deux d\u00e9cennies suivantes de sa carri\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Au cours de l\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9 1999, <strong>M\/V Pos\u00e9idon<\/strong> est employ\u00e9 sur des excursions \u00e0 la journ\u00e9e au d\u00e9part de Fehmarn. Il appareille d\u2019Allemagne le 06 d\u00e9cembre pour l\u2019Inde. Apr\u00e8s que le ferry ait \u00e9t\u00e9 renomm\u00e9 <strong>Pearl Cruise II<\/strong>, il est engag\u00e9 au printemps 2003 sur la ligne Colombo (Sri Lanka) &#8211; Thoothukudi (Inde).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Le 14 mai 2006, le navire est attaqu\u00e9 par les Tigres de lib\u00e9ration de l\u2019\u00celam tamoul, une organisation ind\u00e9pendantiste sri lankaise. <strong>M\/V Pearl Cruise II<\/strong> transporte alors \u00e0 son bord 700 soldats de l\u2019arm\u00e9e r\u00e9guli\u00e8re sri lankaise.
