D&rsquo;abord affect\u00e9 sur la ligne Roscoff &#8211; Plymouth sous le nom <strong>B\u00e9nodet<\/strong>, il est transf\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 compter de la saison 1985 \u00e0 la compagnie s\u0153ur <em>British Channel Island Ferries<\/em> pour service vers les \u00celes Anglo-normandes. Le premier est command\u00e9 aux chantiers <em>Meyer Werft<\/em> de Papenburg (Allemagne) en 1969 et sa quille est pos\u00e9e le 19 septembre 1969. Le navire est baptis\u00e9 <strong>Apollo<\/strong> le 19 d\u00e9cembre 1969, puis lanc\u00e9 le 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Apollo<\/strong> est livr\u00e9 29 avril 1970 et affr\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 <strong>Viking Line<\/strong> qui l&rsquo;engage \u00e0 compter du 2 mai 1970 sur la ligne Kapellsh\u00e4r (Su\u00e8de) &#8211; Mariehamn (Finlande) &#8211; N\u00e4dendan (Finlande). Le 10 novembre 1971, <strong>Apollo<\/strong> prend part \u00e0 un exercice de secours en mer o\u00f9 il occupe le r\u00f4le de navire naufrag\u00e9. Le 1er avril 1976, <strong>Olau Kent<\/strong> r\u00e9alise sa premi\u00e8re travers\u00e9e sur la ligne Sheerness (\u00c9cosse) &#8211; Flessingue (Pays-Bas). N\u00e9anmoins, le 10 septembre 1980, <strong>Olau West<\/strong> est mis sous s\u00e9questre \u00e0 Flessingue, sur la demande d&rsquo;un bailleur de fonds de l&rsquo;ex-propri\u00e9taire de <strong>Olau Line<\/strong>. Le 05 novembre, le navire est vendu aux ench\u00e8res \u00e0 la banque danoise SDS. Revendu quelques jours apr\u00e8s \u00e0 <strong>Nordisk Faergefart<\/strong>, il est renomm\u00e9 <strong>Gelting Nord<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Gelting Nord de retour en Baltique<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Les nouveaux propri\u00e9taires de <strong>Gelting Nord<\/strong> font b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier au navire d&rsquo;une r\u00e9novation en profondeur \u00e0 la fin de l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e 1980. En mars 1981, le navire est introduit sur la ligne F\u00e5borg (Danemark) &#8211; Gelting (Allemagne). En juillet 1985, <strong>Corbi\u00e8re<\/strong> heurte un objet flottant non-identifi\u00e9 qui endommage l&rsquo;une de ses h\u00e9lices. Les d\u00e9g\u00e2ts sont cependant limit\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le 1er octobre 1986, <strong>Channel Island Ferries<\/strong> et <strong>Sealink<\/strong> fusionnent leurs activit\u00e9s pour former <strong>British Channel Island Ferries<\/strong> (<strong>BCIF<\/strong>). La compagnie l&rsquo;affr\u00e8te jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;automne 1997, apr\u00e8s quoi le navire est d\u00e9sarm\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Durant l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1998, <strong>Apollo<\/strong> est utilis\u00e9 comme h\u00f4tel flottant \u00e0 Vyborg (Russie). Le navire est engag\u00e9 \u00e0 compter de f\u00e9vrier sur la ligne Matane &#8211; Godbout. Le 25 f\u00e9vrier, Apollo heurte le quai \u00e0 Godbout, endommageant le casque \u00e0 l&rsquo;avant du navire. Il s&rsquo;en suivra une autre collision le 16 mars 2009, cette fois-ci \u00e0 Matane. <strong>Apollo<\/strong> est alors d\u00e9sarm\u00e9 apr\u00e8s moins d&rsquo;un mois de service, le temps d&rsquo;\u00e9valuer les r\u00e9parations \u00e0 mener.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L&rsquo;audit qui suit ce choc d\u00e9couvre plusieurs d\u00e9faillances structurelles sur le navire, qui est jug\u00e9 \u00e9conomiquement irr\u00e9parable. Le 30 septembre, il est annonc\u00e9 que <strong>Apollo<\/strong> serait coul\u00e9 au large de Godbout, afin de servir de r\u00e9cif artificiel. N\u00e9anmoins, faute de financements pour d\u00e9samianter le navire, le projet est abandonn\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le 2 ao\u00fbt 2021, <strong>Apollo<\/strong> quitte le Canada \u00e0 la remorque de <strong>Mirjana K<\/strong>. Le projet de d\u00e9manteler le navire au Canada n&rsquo;ayant pas pu se concr\u00e9tiser, <strong>Apollo<\/strong> est conduit sur les plages d&rsquo;Aliaga, en Turquie.
