Construit en 2001 aux chantiers Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft de Kiel, <strong>Cap Finist\u00e8re<\/strong> avait \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7u pour les liaisons rapides entre la Gr\u00e8ce et l&rsquo;Italie pour l&rsquo;armement <strong>Attica<\/strong>. Elles sont en effet plus s\u00fbres que les routes des Balkans. Cependant, les navires affect\u00e9s \u00e0 ces liaisons \u00e9taient tous de seconde main et mettaient 35 heures \u00e0 traverser la mer Adriatique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Afin d&rsquo;accro\u00eetre ses parts de march\u00e9, <strong>Attica<\/strong> d\u00e9cide alors de construire deux navires neufs, d\u00e9nomm\u00e9s <strong>Superfast I<\/strong> et <strong>Superfast II<\/strong>. Capable d&rsquo;atteindre la vitesse de 27 n\u0153uds, ils sont con\u00e7us pour relier Anc\u00f4ne (Italie) \u00e0 Patras (Gr\u00e8ce) en 20 heures \u00e0 compter de 1995. Leur mise en service est un succ\u00e8s commercial et d\u00e8s 1998, la flotte de <strong>Superfast<\/strong> est \u00e9tendue avec deux autres navires alors qu&rsquo;une nouvelle ligne est ouverte depuis Patras vers Bari (Italie).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Une paire pour renforcer la flotte Superfast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Face au succ\u00e8s de <strong>Superfast<\/strong>, ses concurrents <strong>ANEK<\/strong> et <strong>Minoan Line<\/strong> introduisent \u00e0 leur tour des ferries rapides entre l&rsquo;Italie et la Gr\u00e8ce. Afin de pr\u00e9server son leadership, <strong>Superfast<\/strong> commande d\u00e8s 1999 deux autres paires pour remplacer ses quatre premiers bateaux. D&rsquo;un design similaire aux <strong>Superfast III<\/strong> et <strong>IV<\/strong>, les quatre nouveaux navires sont n\u00e9anmoins allong\u00e9s de 10 m\u00e8tres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La construction de <strong>Superfast V<\/strong> d\u00e9bute \u00e0 Kiel le 29 juin 1999 et avance rapidement, permettant sa mise \u00e0 l&rsquo;eau le 11 mars 2000. Cependant, des retards dans la finalisation de ses am\u00e9nagements contraignent le chantier \u00e0 repousser sa livraison de juillet \u00e0 l&rsquo;automne 2000. CC BY 3.0, Jeanhousen<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Finalement, <strong>Superfast V<\/strong> est livr\u00e9 \u00e0 son op\u00e9rateur le 5 avril 2001 qui l&rsquo;engage \u00e0 compter du 12 avril sur sa ligne reliant Patras \u00e0 Anc\u00f4ne. D\u00e9but 2002, <strong>Superfast V<\/strong> est modernis\u00e9 aux chantiers Llyod de Bremerhaven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un succ\u00e8s contrari\u00e9<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 2000, <strong>Superfast Ferries<\/strong> entre dans une phase de difficult\u00e9s financi\u00e8res. La mise en service de 12 navires en moins de 10 ans gr\u00e8ve les comptes de la compagnie, alors que la concurrence s&rsquo;est \u00e9galement dot\u00e9e de ferries rapides. Afin de pr\u00e9server <strong>Superfast Ferries<\/strong>, ses dirigeants sont contraints de revendre d\u00e8s 2006 ses activit\u00e9s d&rsquo;Europe du Nord lanc\u00e9es cinq ans plus t\u00f4t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ces ventes ne suffisent pas \u00e0 redresser les comptes et la compagnie est donc contrainte de mettre en vente la paire de 2001. Le 17 d\u00e9cembre 2009, <strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong><\/strong> annonce l&rsquo;acquisition de <strong>Superfast V<\/strong> pour 81,5 millions d&rsquo;euros. Avec ce nouveau navire, l&rsquo;armement ambitionne de d\u00e9velopper la ligne Portsmouth &#8211; Santander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Superfast V<\/strong> assure sa derni\u00e8re travers\u00e9e dans la mer Adriatique le 11 f\u00e9vrier 2010, au terme de laquelle il est remis \u00e0 <strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong><\/strong>. Le 16 f\u00e9vrier 2010, le ferry est renomm\u00e9 <strong>Cap Finist\u00e8re<\/strong>. <strong>Cap Finist\u00e8re<\/strong> arrive aux chantiers ARNO de Dunkerque le 24 f\u00e9vrier 2010, apr\u00e8s avoir r\u00e9alis\u00e9 des essais d&rsquo;accostage \u00e0 Cherbourg et Portsmouth. Il est repeint dans la livr\u00e9e de <strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong><\/strong> et adapt\u00e9 aux besoins de sa nouvelle affectation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cap Finist\u00e8re, le fer de lance de la strat\u00e9gie espagnole de Brittany Ferries<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>La premi\u00e8re travers\u00e9e de <strong>Cap Finist\u00e8re<\/strong> pour <strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong><\/strong> a lieu le 22 mars 2010. Ses aptitudes de vitesse sont utilis\u00e9es pour proposer deux allers-retours hebdomadaires entre Portsmouth et Santander en \u00e0 peine 24 heures. La liaison concurrente, op\u00e9r\u00e9e par P&amp;O Ferries, met alors 36 heures pour relier Portsmouth \u00e0 Bilbao. En amont de ce service, <strong>Cap Finist\u00e8re<\/strong> visite pour la premi\u00e8re fois Bilbao le 13 octobre 2010.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Un succ\u00e8s commercial pour Brittany Ferries<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Durant l&rsquo;hiver 2010-2011, <strong>Cap Finist\u00e8re<\/strong> b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d&rsquo;une modernisation r\u00e9alis\u00e9e \u00e0 Gda\u0144sk pour finaliser les travaux d&rsquo;adaptations aux besoins de <strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong> entam\u00e9s l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente. \u00c0 cette occasion, il perd les hublots situ\u00e9s au niveau des ponts garages sur ses flancs. Le 29 mars 2011, <strong>Cap Finist\u00e8re<\/strong> assure sa premi\u00e8re rotation entre Portsmouth et Bilbao. Les eaux utilis\u00e9es par la d\u00e9pollution sont ainsi directement rejet\u00e9es \u00e0 la mer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le 25 juin 2015, Jean-Marc Rou\u00e9 officialise les projets de remplacement de Cap Finist\u00e8re par une nouvelle unit\u00e9, moins rapide mais aux co\u00fbts d&rsquo;exploitation plus mod\u00e9r\u00e9s.
