D\u00e9sormais Damla<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Duc de Normandie<\/strong> est construit en 1978 sous le nom <strong>Prinses Beatrix<\/strong> pour service entre Hoek van Holland (Pays-Bas) et Harwich (Grande-Bretagne). Rachet\u00e9 en 1986 par <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/brittany-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1973\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1973\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong>, il b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d&rsquo;une importante refonte en amont de sa mise en service sur la ligne Caen (Ouistreham) &#8211; Portsmouth, nouvellement cr\u00e9\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En pr\u00e9vision de la mise en service de <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/04\/m-v-mont-st-michel-2002-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Mont St Michel (2002) | Brittany Ferries\">Mont St Michel<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Duc de Normandie<\/strong> est transf\u00e9r\u00e9 sur la ligne Roscoff &#8211; Plymouth en 2002. Il y termine sa carri\u00e8re en 2005 lorsque <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/05\/27\/m-v-bretagne\/\" title=\"M\/V Bretagne (1989 \u2013 2024) \u2013 Brittany Ferries\">Bretagne<\/a><\/strong> est transf\u00e9r\u00e9 sur la ligne. Apr\u00e8s sa carri\u00e8re \u00e0 la <strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong>, le navire est revendu \u00e0 <strong>Acciona Transmediterranea<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Duc de Normandie<\/strong> est nomm\u00e9 en hommage des chefs d&rsquo;\u00c9tat du Duch\u00e9 de Normandie, qui reprend peu ou prou les limites territoriales de la r\u00e9gion contemporaine. Sa quille est pos\u00e9e le 3 juin 1977 aux chantiers <em>Verolme Scheepswerf Heusden B.V.<\/em>. Le navire est lanc\u00e9 le 14 janvier 1978 et baptis\u00e9 par la Princesse h\u00e9riti\u00e8re des Pays-Bas Beatrix, \u00e0 qui il doit son nom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le navire est livr\u00e9 \u00e0 <strong>SMZ<\/strong> le 24 juin 1978 et mis en service sur la ligne Harwich (Angleterre) &#8211; Hoek Van Holland (Pays-Bas) le 29 juin 1978. Les acteurs locaux sont en effet convaincus qu&rsquo;une telle ligne permettrait de d\u00e9velopper le tourisme dans la r\u00e9gion, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 la position centrale de Caen par rapport aux ports de Cherbourg et du Havre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cependant, <strong>Townsend Thoresen<\/strong>, qui exploite d\u00e9j\u00e0 les lignes Cherbourg &#8211; Portsmouth et Le Havre &#8211; Portsmouth, ne voit pas l&rsquo;int\u00e9r\u00eat d&rsquo;ouvrir un troisi\u00e8me port sur la c\u00f4te normande. La CCI de Caen d\u00e9marche alors <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/brittany-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1973\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1973\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong> en lui proposant d&rsquo;\u00e9tendre son r\u00e9seau vers la Normandie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Courant 1985, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/brittany-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1973\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1973\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong> et les collectivit\u00e9s territoriales du Calvados fondent la <strong>Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00c9conomie Mixte d&rsquo;Armement Naval du Calvados<\/strong> (SEMANC) en vue d&rsquo;acqu\u00e9rir un navire d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 la nouvelle ligne de Caen. Le 1er octobre 1985, <strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong> annonce l&rsquo;acquisition de <strong>Prinses Beatrix<\/strong>, qui est affr\u00e9t\u00e9 imm\u00e9diatement \u00e0 <strong>SMZ<\/strong> jusqu&rsquo;en avril 1986.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Duc de Normandie, un navire pionnier de la Brittany Ferries<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 l&rsquo;issue de son affr\u00e8tement \u00e0 SMZ, le navire est renomm\u00e9 <strong>Duc de Normandie<\/strong> le 1er mai 1986. <strong>Duc de Normandie<\/strong> b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie d&rsquo;une importante refonte \u00e0 Rotterdam. Pour la premi\u00e8re fois, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/brittany-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1973\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1973\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong> fait b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier \u00e0 un navire de seconde main d&rsquo;une importante r\u00e9novation pour proposer un niveau de confort jusqu&rsquo;ici inconnu sur le trans-manche. Le projet n&rsquo;aboutit pas, mais en 1988, la compagnie affr\u00e8te <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/15\/m-v-gotland-1988-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Gotland (1988) | Brittany Ferries\">Gotland<\/a><\/strong> pour proposer trois d\u00e9parts quotidiens de chacun des deux ports.
