Revendu en 1975 en raison des difficult\u00e9s financi\u00e8res de son propri\u00e9taire, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong> ach\u00e8te le navire et l&rsquo;introduit sur la ligne Saint-Malo &#8211; Portsmouth. En 1978, <strong>Armorique (1)<\/strong> inaugure les lignes Roscoff &#8211; Cork et Plymouth &#8211; Santander.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Armorique (1)<\/strong> retrouve la ligne Saint-Malo &#8211; Portsmouth apr\u00e8s la mise en service de Quiberon, en 1982. Il y est op\u00e9r\u00e9 jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 sa revente par <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong>, en 1993.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le nom d&rsquo;Armorique vient d&rsquo;un terme breton signifiant la terre qui rejoint la mer. Construit au Havre, il est lanc\u00e9 le 24 avril 1971. Apr\u00e8s finalisation, il est livr\u00e9 le 13 mai 1972 \u00e0 son op\u00e9rateur. <strong>Terje Vigen<\/strong> entre en service imm\u00e9diatement entre Oslo et Aarhus. En 1973, il est revendu \u00e0 <strong>Skan-Fahr KG<\/strong>, qui l&rsquo;affr\u00e8te imm\u00e9diatement \u00e0 DA-NO Linien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cependant, son armateur et son affr\u00e9teur sont rapidement confront\u00e9s \u00e0 des difficult\u00e9s financi\u00e8res, qui les contraignent \u00e0 vendre <strong>Terje Vigen<\/strong>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries\">Bretagne Angleterre Irlande<\/a><\/strong> rach\u00e8te le ferry en novembre 1975 et le fait r\u00e9nover. Renomm\u00e9 <strong>Armorique<\/strong>, il est le premier navire de la flotte \u00e0 proposer des am\u00e9nagements pouss\u00e9s pour les passagers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Avec ce nouveau ferry, l&rsquo;armateur breton souhaite ouvrir une nouvelle ligne reliant Saint-Malo \u00e0 Portsmouth, une desserte abandonn\u00e9e depuis 1964.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Armorique, un ferry pour la ligne Saint-Malo &#8211; Portsmouth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Armorique<\/strong> entre en service le 4 mars 1976 sur la ligne Roscoff &#8211; Plymouth, en remplacement du <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/22\/m-v-prince-de-bretagne-1975-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Prince de Bretagne (1975) | Brittany Ferries\">Prince de Bretagne<\/a><\/strong> affr\u00e9t\u00e9 l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente. Initialement utilis\u00e9 uniquement pour le trafic fret, il transporte ses premiers passagers le 25 mars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le 8 avril 1976, <strong>Armorique<\/strong> touche pour la premi\u00e8re fois le port de Saint-Malo, qu&rsquo;il dessert depuis Plymouth en attendant la finalisation des travaux de construction du port de Portsmouth. R\u00e9par\u00e9 au Havre, il est remplac\u00e9 par l&rsquo;affr\u00e9t\u00e9 <strong>Bonanza<\/strong>, qui offre des prestations bien inf\u00e9rieures. Mi-ao\u00fbt, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/02\/m-v-penn-ar-bed-1974-1984-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Penn-Ar-Bed (1974-1984) | Brittany Ferries\">Penn-Ar-Bed<\/a><\/strong> est appel\u00e9 sur la ligne Saint-Malo &#8211; Portsmouth, avant que <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong> ne parvienne \u00e0 affr\u00e9ter un navire au confort similaire \u00e0 Armorique, Olau West.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Armorique<\/strong> reprend finalement son service en septembre 1976, avant d&rsquo;\u00eatre d\u00e9sarm\u00e9 au cours de l&rsquo;hiver 1976-1977.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Le navire pionnier de l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an Atlantique<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Durant l&rsquo;hiver 1977-78, les installations passagers d&rsquo;<strong>Armorique<\/strong> sont compl\u00e9t\u00e9es avec la cr\u00e9ation d&rsquo;un restaurant \u00e0 la carte, d&rsquo;un cin\u00e9ma et d&rsquo;une salle de jeux pour enfants. Ces nouveaux am\u00e9nagements permettent d&rsquo;adapter le navire \u00e0 des travers\u00e9es plus longues. En effet, \u00e0 l&rsquo;automne 1977, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/brittany-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1973\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1973\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong> annonce son intention de cr\u00e9er deux nouvelles lignes : l&rsquo;une entre la Bretagne et l&rsquo;Irlande, l&rsquo;autre entre l&rsquo;Angleterre et l&rsquo;Espagne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C&rsquo;est ainsi que le 17 mars 1978, <strong>Armorique<\/strong> inaugure la ligne saisonni\u00e8re Roscoff &#8211; Cork, qui est la premi\u00e8re liaison \u00e0 relier l&rsquo;Irlande \u00e0 la Bretagne. Jusqu&rsquo;alors, les ferries pour l&rsquo;Irlande partaient en effet du Havre et de Cherbourg. Partant de Southampton, ces trois lignes affichaient une dur\u00e9e de travers\u00e9e de pr\u00e8s de 36 heures, une dur\u00e9e r\u00e9dhibitoire. Pour contourner cet obstacle, <strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong> choisit d&rsquo;op\u00e9rer <strong>Armorique<\/strong> depuis la pointe ouest de l&rsquo;Angleterre. Pendant que Armorique est envoy\u00e9 au Havre pour r\u00e9parations, il est remplac\u00e9 par le <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/02\/m-v-penn-ar-bed-1974-1984-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Penn-Ar-Bed (1974-1984) | Brittany Ferries\">Penn-Ar-Bed<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fort d&rsquo;un bilan financier 1982 favorable, Brittany Ferries engage des travaux d&rsquo;am\u00e9lioration sur <strong>Armorique<\/strong>, <strong>Prince of Brittany<\/strong> et <strong>Quiberon<\/strong> durant l&rsquo;hiver 1982-1983. Pendant le car\u00e9nage de ce dernier, <strong>Armorique<\/strong> reprend le service des lignes Roscoff &#8211; Cork et Plymouth &#8211; Santander en mars 1983. Cependant, le 2 avril, un incendie se d\u00e9clare dans un local technique du pont 5, alors que Armorique transporte 680 passagers. Une personne d\u00e9c\u00e8de dans l&rsquo;incendie et 78 autres sont bless\u00e9es \u00e0 des degr\u00e9s divers. 66 cabines sont ab\u00eem\u00e9es dans l&rsquo;incendie, contraignant \u00e0 d\u00e9sarmer le ferry jusqu&rsquo;au mois de mai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Armorique, un navire saisonnier<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>De l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1983 jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9t\u00e9 1991, <strong>Armorique<\/strong> assure la ligne Saint-Malo &#8211; Portsmouth de mai \u00e0 septembre. En avant et apr\u00e8s-saison, il remplace d&rsquo;autres navires de la compagnie pendant leurs p\u00e9riodes de maintenance ou est affr\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 d&rsquo;autres op\u00e9rateurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C&rsquo;est ainsi que d\u00e9but-avril 1986, <strong>Armorique<\/strong> est affr\u00e9t\u00e9 par <strong>SMZ<\/strong> pour service entre Hoek van Holland et Harwich. Durant ce m\u00eame printemps 1986, <strong>Armorique<\/strong> op\u00e8re \u00e9galement deux croisi\u00e8res entre Portsmouth et Caen, en pr\u00e9vision de l&rsquo;ouverture de la nouvelle ligne Caen (Ouistreham) &#8211; Portsmouth, le 6 juin 1986. Durant ces deux croisi\u00e8res, il s&rsquo;amarre dans le canal de Caen, offrant \u00e0 ses passagers une visite d&rsquo;une journ\u00e9e de la capitale normande.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En juin 1988, <strong>Armorique<\/strong> est affr\u00e9t\u00e9 par la filiale <strong>Truckline<\/strong> pour service entre Cherbourg et Poole. D\u00e9but-octobre 1989, <strong>Armorique<\/strong> est affr\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 <strong>BCIF<\/strong> pour service entre Poole, Guernesey et Jersey. Le ferry op\u00e8re finalement sa derni\u00e8re travers\u00e9e pour <strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong> le 31 d\u00e9cembre 1992. En f\u00e9vrier 1993, <strong>Armorique<\/strong> est affr\u00e9t\u00e9 par <strong>BCIF<\/strong> pour service entre Poole et les \u00eeles Anglo-normandes. Il est ensuite d\u00e9sarm\u00e9 dans le port de Cherbourg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Une fin de carri\u00e8re asiatique pour l&rsquo;ex-Armorique<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>En d\u00e9cembre 1993, <strong>Armorique<\/strong> est vendu \u00e0 la compagnie chinoise <strong>Xiamen Ocean Shipping<\/strong> qui le renomme <strong>Min Nan<\/strong>. Il quitte le port de Saint-Malo (o\u00f9 il avait \u00e9t\u00e9 transf\u00e9r\u00e9 en septembre 1993) le 18 d\u00e9cembre 1993 pour la Chine. \u00c0 compter de 1994, <strong>Min Nan<\/strong> assure des services entre Xiamen et Hong Kong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1998, le navire est revendu \u00e0 la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 <strong>Weihai Ferry Co<\/strong> et renomm\u00e9 <strong>Sheng Sheng<\/strong>. Il est \u00e0 nouveau revendu en 2003 puis est renomm\u00e9 <strong>Tirta Kencana (1)<\/strong> en 2005. En octobre 2009, il est renomm\u00e9 <strong>Musthika Kencana (2)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le 4 juillet 2011, <strong>Musthika Kencana (2)<\/strong> prend feu au large de l&rsquo;\u00eele de Java avec 151 passagers et 50 v\u00e9hicules \u00e0 bord. Face \u00e0 l&rsquo;ampleur du sinistre, le capitaine d\u00e9cide l&rsquo;abandon du navire.
