Le navire est bas\u00e9 sur les plans du roulier du fr\u00e9teur <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/cotentin\/\">Cotentin<\/a><\/strong>. <strong>Armorique<\/strong> a \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7u pour la ligne historique Roscoff &#8211; Plymouth, mais sa polyvalence lui permet d&rsquo;op\u00e9rer l&rsquo;ensemble des lignes de la compagnie. Le projet, alors cod\u00e9 \u00ab <strong>Bretagne 2<\/strong> \u00bb, pr\u00e9voit d&rsquo;\u00e9tendre la superstructure vers la poupe et d&rsquo;abaisser la hauteur du pont 5 pour pr\u00e9server le centre de gravit\u00e9 du navire. Le navire est ainsi sp\u00e9cifiquement con\u00e7u pour la client\u00e8le de Roscoff &#8211; Plymouth. Cependant, ces dimensions en ferraient \u00e9galement un navire capable de remplacer tous les autres durant leurs arr\u00eats techniques. Le navire est lanc\u00e9 le 10 ao\u00fbt 2008. La crise \u00e9conomique contraint en effet <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/brittany-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1973\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1973\">Brittany Ferries<\/a><\/strong> \u00e0 suspendre le service sur Roscoff &#8211; Plymouth durant l&rsquo;hiver 2009-2010.
