Par la suite King of Scandinavia, puis King Seaways<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Val de Loire<\/strong> est un ferry croisi\u00e8re op\u00e9r\u00e9 par <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/brittany-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1973\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1973\"><strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong><\/a> entre 1993 et 2006. Le navire a \u00e9t\u00e9 construit en 1986-1987 sous le nom de <strong>Nils Holgersson<\/strong> pour le compte de <strong>TT-Line<\/strong>. \u00c0 sa mise en service, il est op\u00e9r\u00e9 entre Travem\u00fcnde (Allemagne) et Trelleborg (Su\u00e8de). C&rsquo;est la faillite de son propri\u00e9taire qui permet \u00e0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/29\/brittany-ferries-lhistoire-depuis-1973\/\" title=\"Brittany Ferries | L\u2019histoire depuis 1973\"><strong>Brittany Ferries<\/strong><\/a> de le racheter, pour en faire son nouveau navire amiral.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Val de Loire<\/strong> est ainsi op\u00e9r\u00e9 de 1993 \u00e0 2003 sur les lignes Roscoff &#8211; Cork et Plymouth &#8211; Santander. La livraison de <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/07\/04\/m-v-pont-aven-2004-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Pont-Aven (2004) | Brittany Ferries\">Pont-Aven<\/a><\/strong> engendrera son transfert sur la ligne Saint-Malo &#8211; Portsmouth. Trop gros pour sa nouvelle affectation, il est revendu en 2006 \u00e0 <strong>DFDS Seaways<\/strong> qui l&rsquo;op\u00e8re depuis sur sa ligne IJmuiden (Amsterdam, Pays-Bas) &#8211; North Shields (Newcastle, Angleterre).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Val de Loire<\/strong> est baptis\u00e9 du nom d&rsquo;une r\u00e9gion hydrographique fran\u00e7aise qui regroupe les anciennes provinces de l&rsquo;Orl\u00e9anais, de Touraine et de l&rsquo;Anjou. Ses rotations d\u00e9butent le 28 mars 1962, avec le ferry <strong>Nils Holgersson (1)<\/strong>. Pour optimiser ses op\u00e9rations, la compagnie ferra construire au fil des ann\u00e9es plusieurs classes de navires identiques, dont les t\u00eates de s\u00e9rie sont syst\u00e9matiquement baptis\u00e9es <strong>Peter Pan<\/strong> et <strong>Nils Holgersson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1980, <strong>TT-Line<\/strong> forme un groupement avec <strong>Saga Linjen<\/strong>, filiale des chemins de fer su\u00e9dois, pour op\u00e9rer conjointement plusieurs lignes entre la Su\u00e8de et l&rsquo;Allemagne. En 1985, le groupement commande une s\u00e9rie de deux navires pour renouveler la flotte de la ligne Travem\u00fcnde &#8211; Trelleborg. Une option pour deux navires suppl\u00e9mentaires est \u00e9galement pr\u00e9vue. Ces car-ferry sont une \u00e9volution des <strong>Olau Hollandia<\/strong> et <strong>Olau Britannia<\/strong>, mis en service cinq ann\u00e9es plus t\u00f4t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le premier de ces deux navires, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.doverferryphotosforums.co.uk\/mv-princess-seaways-past-and-present\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"MV Princess Seaways, Past and present\">Peter Pan (3)<\/a><\/strong>, est mis en service le 02 juin 1986. Il est suivi par son sister-ship, <strong>Nils Holgersson (4)<\/strong>, le 26 juin 1987. Command\u00e9 par <em>Swecarrier Ab<\/em>, il est vendu en cours de construction \u00e0 <em>Wallenius Safe Felicia Ab<\/em> qui le r\u00e9ceptionne le 20 f\u00e9vrier 1987. Il est imm\u00e9diatement affr\u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e0 <em>Swecarrier Ab<\/em> et immatricul\u00e9 en Su\u00e8de.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le ferry entre ainsi en service entre Travem\u00fcnde et Trelleborg le 26 juin 1987. Sa mise en service apporte \u00e0 la ligne un nouveau standard de confort. <strong>Nils Holgersson<\/strong> propose en effet plusieurs espaces de restauration pour ses 1 800 passagers et dispose m\u00eame d&rsquo;une piscine, implant\u00e9e au pont 2. Cependant, sa surface de garage est insuffisante pour satisfaire l&rsquo;augmentation du nombre de remorques sur la ligne. &#8211; Portsmouth durant l&rsquo;automne et l&rsquo;hiver 1993. Ses dimensions lui permettent de former un tandem capacitaire avec <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/06\/28\/m-v-normandie-1992-2025-brittany-ferries\/\" title=\"M\/V Normandie (1992-2025) | Brittany Ferries\">Normandie<\/a><\/strong>, mis en service l&rsquo;ann\u00e9e pr\u00e9c\u00e9dente. La ligne vers l&rsquo;Espagne est assur\u00e9e par <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/05\/27\/m-v-bretagne\/\" title=\"M\/V Bretagne (1989 \u2013 2024) \u2013 Brittany Ferries\">Bretagne<\/a><\/strong> durant cet hiver-l\u00e0. <strong>Val de Loire<\/strong> reprend ses travers\u00e9es vers l&rsquo;Irlande et l&rsquo;Espagne au printemps 1994. Avec sa longueur de 185 m\u00e8tres et sa largeur de 31 m\u00e8tres, le nouveau navire surclasserait <strong>Val de Loire<\/strong>, dont l&rsquo;utilisation ult\u00e9rieure au sein de la flotte n&rsquo;est alors pas connue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finalement, la mise en service de <strong>Pont-Aven<\/strong> en avril 2004 engendre le transfert de <strong>Val de Loire<\/strong> sur les lignes Cherbourg &#8211; Portsmouth et Saint-Malo &#8211; Portsmouth, en tandem avec <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breizh-ferries.com\/index.php\/2025\/05\/27\/m-v-bretagne\/\" title=\"M\/V Bretagne (1989 \u2013 2024) \u2013 Brittany Ferries\">Bretagne<\/a><\/strong>. Ce nouveau service est con\u00e7u pour faire concurrence aux op\u00e9rations de Portsmouth de <strong>P&amp;O Ferries<\/strong>. Ce ferry n&rsquo;est autre que l&rsquo;ex-<strong>Peter Pan<\/strong>, le sister-ship de <strong>King of Scandinavia<\/strong>. Peu endommag\u00e9, il peut n\u00e9anmoins rapidement reprendre son service. Le ferry conna\u00eet un nouvel incident le 22 f\u00e9vrier 2008, lorsqu&rsquo;il rompt ses amarres dans le port de North Shields \u00e0 la faveur de fortes rafales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Le King Seaways de DFDS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Afin de s&rsquo;inscrire dans la nouvelle charte de <strong>DFDS<\/strong>, le navire est renomm\u00e9 <strong>King Seaways<\/strong> lors d&rsquo;un arr\u00eat technique \u00e0 Odense, en janvier 2011. entre l&rsquo;Angleterre et les Pays-Bas. Cependant, leur conception ancienne se traduit par une capacit\u00e9 limiter pour le transport de fret. Or, cette ligne constitue un itin\u00e9raire de d\u00e9tournement populaire aux congestions du port de Douvres. C&rsquo;est pour cela que depuis le milieu des ann\u00e9es 2010, <strong>DFDS<\/strong> est en qu\u00eate de deux nouveaux navires pour remplacer <strong>King Seaways<\/strong> et <strong>Princess Seaways<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le 6 septembre 2019, <strong>DFDS<\/strong> annonce l&rsquo;acquisition de <strong>Moby Aki<\/strong> et <strong>Moby Wonder<\/strong> pour remplacer <strong>King Seaways<\/strong> et <strong>Princess Seaways<\/strong>. Du fait \u00e0 leur longueur de 174 m\u00e8tres, ces deux ferries sont les plus longs \u00e0 pouvoir accoster \u00e0 IJmuiden. Cependant, leur largeur plus importante et une conception diff\u00e9rente du garage permet \u00e0 ces deux ferries d&rsquo;offrir une capacit\u00e9 fret 50% plus importante que celles de <strong>King Cependant, les cr\u00e9anciers de <strong>Moby Line<\/strong> refusent de lever l&rsquo;hypoth\u00e8que qu&rsquo;ils d\u00e9tiennent sur les <strong>Moby Aki<\/strong> et <strong>Moby Wonder<\/strong>. Le 29 octobre 2019, alors que les travaux de transformation sont bien engag\u00e9es, <strong>DFDS<\/strong> et <strong>Moby Spa<\/strong> annoncent l&rsquo;annulation du contrat d&rsquo;acquisition des deux navires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le 21 mars 2020, <strong>King Seaways<\/strong> et <strong>Princess Seaways<\/strong> sont immobilis\u00e9s dans le port d&rsquo;IJmuiden en raison des restrictions aux voyage impos\u00e9es par les gouvernements dans le cadre de la pand\u00e9mie de Covid-19.
